In the summer of 2013 Geva Theare Center set aside funds to remodel their mainstage seating for better wheelchair accesability folowing the guidelines set forth by American Disabilities Act (ADA). I was given the task of carrying out the architect's plans by generating the construction drawings and executing the demolition and build.

Overall I removed close to 40 seats.

I'll be removing the carpet, the uppermost platform, and the ends of the back walls.

Every square inch of the carpet was glued down. It gummed up and stuck to everything, including my shoes. Lots of fun.

After removing the back wall and platform, I moved on to framing out the box seating. None of the levels were actually level to each other so it required quite a bit of creative shimming.

My friend and colleague Katie Everdyke picked up some hours by lending a hand. She was definitely a big help!

The three framing members closest to the theatre wall were some old school timbers. They were actually 2"x 6" (!) and then some... took awhile to cut through them.

Stair has been cut back, the framing has been cut back even farther to accommodate a nailer for the facing and the flooring has been filled in.

In the interest of time and uniformity I made some spacers. 1/2" between boards and 3/4" between the boards and the edge of the walls.

We added power outlets to each box, they were not in the architect's original plans, but the building services supervisor and I thought it would be useful to have them.
